Segmental Bulkheads

With increasingly active hurricane seasons in the U.S. over the past few years, bulkheads (or seawalls) have become a vitally important part of our coastal landscape because they can reduce erosion caused by heavy wave action. Bulkheads must be able to endure some of the toughest forces of nature.

At Vertical Walls, we build segmental bulkheads, which are endorsed by both the Army Corps of Engineers and the Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA). These structures are not only aesthetically pleasing, but are built to withstand some of Mother Nature's most brutal weather conditions. Our walls are backfilled with washed stone, which helps filter and drain water during high wave action and high tides. Vertical Walls uses geogrid, a high-strength polymer mesh, to provide tensile strength to the wall. We've built segmental bulkheads along the Intercoastal Waterway and in marinas where wave action is constant.
